MY STORY:

Meet Mercy Danyuku. She is the newest addition to the James127 Foundation team. James127 Foundation hired Mercy to help with communications and customer relations. The following is her story written by her:

"As an individual, I believe when those who are blessed are being counted, I am among the luckiest. Life didn't start well for me as a child because my mother wasn't there for my elder siblings and me. I am from a family of three, my elder sister, a brother, and I. I didn't enjoy childhood much because my mother left us with her parents and went and remarried. We grew up under the care of my grandparents, who were older and didn't know much about child care because of their ages. I was eight months old when my mother remarried, and we were to stay with grandma and grandpa in the village in Western Kenya.

As the youngest, I grew up knowing that those elderly relatives were my birth parents because they were all I had in life. My grandpa took us through school with many struggles, and at times I could stay away from school for months due to lack of school fees. I could even plant kales and take them to school as payment to stay in school, even if for a day or week. After completing school, I passed well, but I couldn't collect my papers because I had fee arrears of Ksh 13000, which is roughly around $130.

I left the village and came to Nairobi, where I stayed with a lady from the same town as me. She used to work as a house help for the Taylors (The family of my current boss). They were so kind-hearted to the extent that mum Melody asked me how she could be of help to me because, at times, I could help to do laundry, ironing, and cleaning the house. As she asked, this was the only prayer I saw answered. I was able to collect my high school papers. She offered to pay the arrears, and that was the new beginning in my life. I had never imagined how a single person would accept to do that and clear such a massive sum of money. This was only God.

When the Taylors left Kenya, I was sad because I felt indebted to them for the rest of my life, but seeing them going was unpleasant. After a year, mum Melody came back to Kenya with some of her friends, and they visited us in Gachie, where we relocated after the Taylors left Kenya. Among the ladies was Cheryl Williams, a lady with a golden heart. She became so friendly, and within no time, I saw her as a mother because she filled the gap my biological mother had left. She offered to support my university education, and she did that and catered for my every personal need.

Recently I completed my university education where I specialized in journalism and communication. This was the time I reunited with the Taylors again! Through James 127 foundation, which Anna Taylor runs, I got a job to help with communication in the foundation, located at Diani in Kwale, Kenya's south coast region. All I can say is that God has a purpose for each of us, and it's just to pray, hope, and wait for your time. I passed through a lot, but through God's manifestation am blessed."
